Citizenship and Immigration

For many Americans, their U.S. citizenship issued at birth is something they dont think twice about. But for applying immigrants, citizenship is a serious goal.

Hopefully most American natural born citizens understand that citizenship is one of the most greatly desired gifts this countrys government can bestow on its citizens. For those of us who have not had to go through the process of becoming a U.S Citizen apart from being naturally born here, there is only one other way to become U.S. citizens and that is by the often times-lengthy process of what is known as “naturalization”.

Naturalization can often times be a complicated process so you should consult with an immigration lawyer rather than attempting this yourself. Even something as simple as travel within the country or state is something that a person needs to know the rules about and this is where an Immigration lawyer is needed so that you have someone to ask questions such as “How long does it take for USCIS to issue work permission and travel permission?” or “When should I renew my work and travel permission?”

Learning about your new country and its rights and the responsibilities that accompany citizenship is an important part of being a good citizen and at the USCIS and the Office of Citizenship they have developed a great amount of resources and a variety of educational materials that allow immigrants to learn more about U.S. history and government as they prepare for the naturalization test.

A final thought on the naturalization process; in addition to finding good counsel and being represented by an immigration lawyer, there are general requirements that the USCIS will look for by those who look to make our great country their home, to name just a few: good moral character, a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government, and favorable disposition toward the United States.

Canberra Reports Rise In 457 Visa Candidates Keen On Queensland Immigration

Immigration Australia has disclosed that 2,500 overseas workers moved to its Queensland province during the last year to cover the regions job openings across its mining and construction sectors. The existing data show that during the concerned period, 34% of workers from abroad–who turned-up on the soils of the province using 457 permits–were involved with these sunshine industries, which, presently, are facing crucial scarcities of labor. That there is huge demand for trained workers, having relevant experience, in the resources industries of Queensland, is no secret.

Meanwhile, a concerned person was quoted as saying that during the year gone by, 2011, and over the course of three months, Queensland immigration received as many as 50,000 expressions of interest (EOI) from the interested people.

Coming back to the immigration body of the country, it reportedly said that the demand for talented overseas workers is only heading north, with British workers being in a rather high demand. Workers from the US and India come next. It added that close to 1,360 construction workers turned-up during the past one year, using 457 Temporary Business Permits, even as this number is over 200% of the 670 construction workers who had turned-up during the year gone by. Besides, overseas workers entering the mining industry headed north. While earlier it was 560, it became 1,180 during the same duration.

Despite these inspiring developments, not everyone really believes that this is a positive development for Down Under or migrant workers. In this connection, a critic was quoted as saying that the use of the 457 Permits of Australia is a method to usher-in overseas workers who (companies) may take advantage of by paying not-too-impressive salaries to them. He continued that the employers of such employees may well issue a warning that they would cancel their permits before they send them back home, in case they raised any fears of safety or salary conditions.

Available data shows that, by and large, the overseas construction employees, doing jobs across the province of Queensland, have been pocketing around $124,400 per annum. Besides, on an average, the mine employees on the Australian 457 permit pocketed close to $131,900 per annum.

Meanwhile, another involved person was quoted as saying that Queensland requires additional workersthe reason being most of the trained workers of Australia are reluctant to shift to regional places. He added that such employees prefer the eastern seaboard against the west, even while they are not very enthusiastic about shifting to Queensland. He reportedly continued that the entire involved process is rather complex, adding that it is rather impossible to bring in a worker from overseas on 457 permit, in case there are local workers to cover the opening.

Increased Oil Competition Survival Of The Fittest

Is the U.S. shale oil industry in trouble? No, it is engaged in a high-stakes competition for market share. As oil flooded the market in 2014-15, prices dropped dramatically and producers began burning midnight oil to manage the downward economic pressures. While some overleveraged companies wont survive the economic challenge, in true Darwinian fashion, the fittest will prevail.

According to the U.S Energy Information Administrations (EIA) “Drilling Productivity Report,” it is estimated that by January 2016, daily production in the seven most prolific shale oil and gas areas in the U.S is expected to fall by 116,000 barrels of oil and 365 million cubic feet of gas. Those seven production areasranging from the Utica and Marcellus shale deposits in the Northeast and the Bakken, Niobrara, Haynesville, Permian, and Eagle Ford deposits in the middle of the countryaccounted for 92 percent of domestic oil production growth and all natural gas production during the years 2011-14.

The decline is directly attributable to a 2014 decision by the Organization of Petroleum-Exporting Countries (OPEC) to produce without regard to market supply. Consequently, a barrel of Benchmark Brent crude oil that brought $114 in June 2014 today brings under $40. OPEC members, particularly Saudi Arabia, can afford the lower price because they can pump oil for as little as $15 a barrel –a competitive advantage American producers cannot match
In December, OPEC doubled down on its strategy and oil prices hit a seven-year low. The lower price hits OPEC profits too, of course, but the greater harm is done to competing oil producers with higher production costs. Those companies can only stop producing and exploring. Many will fail altogether.

So far, some 250,000 job losses around the world are attributed to the lower prices, about 79 percent of that in oil field-service companies like Schlumberger and Halliburton. Swift Worldwide Resources speculates that more than 10,000 workers have been let go by struggling independent contractors and subcontractors. In keeping with their independent status, such companies typically dont announce layoffs.

The glut of oil has affected shale oil field operationsOPECs primary targetwith the number of oil rigs in North America declining 62 percent from December 2014, according to WTRG Economics. Some shale oil producers with high production costs are going bankrupt, while other producers are, in the words of an Oxford Institute for Energy Studies report in November, “[going] into hibernation” or otherwise adjusting as needed.

Many companies are creating different survival adjustments include selling off assets, such as pipelines, to private equity investors, — part of Chesapeake Energys strategy– “refracking” wells using newer technologies,. and using multi-pad drilling with “walking rigs” that are moved from hole to hole on a single site. Well-endowed companies are shelving Arctic megaprojects (e.g. Royal Dutch Shell) or getting out of deepwater drilling altogether (e.g. ConocoPhillps) in favor of shale oil production. ExxonMobil has drilling rights to 1.5 million acres in the Permian Basin shale formation and in October was looking to acquire more.

As the OPEC challenge continues, producers are implementing ways to keep their heads above water. Many producers are downsizing their employees and finding cost effective means for continual oil production, however despite the temporary strategies that are in place, it is not certain who will survive.

How an Accident Claim Company Can Help

The Fall season has its own set of charms and comforts. Being temperate by nature, the fall season is generally considered to be one of the best seasons. This season hence, also many weddings conducted. Since every wedding, depending on many factors, the choice bouquet changes, things are not different for the weddings in the Fall.

Generally, there are specific wedding bouquets for the Fall that have been favored for over a period of time. Fall Wedding Bouquets are distinctly different from the wedding bouquets favored during other times. Let us take a look at the different techniques for great Fall Wedding Bouquets which are favorites during the season.

First, you must realize that color theme the Fall brings along. It is about bright colors like Orange, Red and Brown. Hence, a Fall Wedding Bouquet must also carry a color theme that goes with the times.

Second, even if you do not have bright and vibrant colors for the wedding bouquet, you can decorate the bouquet in other ways. You can decorate it with bright colored ribbons, berries or fern greenery. Berries can add texture and dimension to Fall Wedding Bouquets. The best berries are Hypericum and Vibernum.

Fern leaves proc=vide that ideal contrast for the bright red colors used and lend an elegant look. Fern also has that woodland feel to the white flowers and ivory that is used in the traditional bridal bouquets. Fall foliage is also a great way to add some texture to the flowers. Additionally, you can also have some birch, maple or oak leaves that will add to the beauty a great deal.

Third, your wedding flower centerpieces can also have a bit of Fall theme into it. You can do this with Fall flowers and other types of seasonal items. You can use pumpkins that are hollow as vases for the flowers. When you fill a hollow pumpkin with contrasting fruits like apricot, or even flowers like roses and tulips, it can make for a wonderful and elegant piece. You need not, however, use orange pumpkins only as there are other shades of pumpkins available too. Miniature pumpkins and votive candles can also be added around these centerpieces so that you can continue with the Fall theme totally.

Fourth, try and add some candles to the centerpiece so that the centerpiece exudes some warmth and elegance. Candles are available in various colors such as red, brown and orange and you can take your pick depending on the theme.

Fifth, you can also use Fall foliage as a focal point in the Fall wedding centerpieces. The foliage can be used in wreaths around big sized candles or can be used as an addition to the flower vase. Such arrangements also go well with Autumn Wedding Bouquets.

Why Has The Nature Of Fame And Hollywood Celebrities Transformed In Modern Decades

Hollywood celebrities in the USA have always offered us an outlet for our imagination, just as the gods and demigods of historic Greece and Rome once did. Hollywood celebrities are our myth bearers; carriers of the divine forces of good, evil, lust, and redemption. “The wish for kings is an old and familiar wish, as well-known in medieval Europe as in ancient Mesopotamia,” writes Lewis Lapham in his book The Wish For Kings. “The ancient Greeks assigned trace elements of the divine to trees and winds and stones. A river god sulks, and the child drowns; a sky god smiles, and the corn ripens. The modern Americans assign similar powers not only to whales and spotted owls but also to individuals blessed with the aura of celebrity.”

Historically, famous people were recorded in stone and in paint. Alexander the Great was the first famous person in a modern day sense, contends Leo Braudy, Ph.D., professor of English in the University of Southern California and author of The Frenzy of Renown. “Not only did he want to be unique, but he wanted to tell everybody about it, and he had an apparatus for telling everybody about it. He had techniques for doing famous things. He had historians, painters, sculptors, gem carvers on his battles.”

Heroes, all of us might agree, bring intrinsic benefit-the essence of the heroic and the noble. Durable gods serve to raise our vision above the mundane.

But fame isn’t what it used to be. Hollywood celebrities are borne aloft on pictures marketed, sold, and disseminated with a rapidity and cunning not imagined by the heroes of old, and then just as quickly cast aside.

“We’re in the Kleenex phase of fame,” claims Braudy. “We see so much of people, and in all branches of the media. We blow our nose on every new star that happens to come along and then dispose of them.” Just about every year brings a brand new Sexiest Man Alive. Technology has transformed fame making sure that it is far more immediate and instantaneous-and our curiosity with it has become a lot more fickle.

Where once the renowned attained an almost godlike status, one that appeared impermeable and historical (bear in mind Lincoln or Washington, Charles Lindbergh or Jesse Owens), today Hollywood celebrity exist for and by an information age. Within our worldwide and atomized planet of bits and bytes, where information is immediately available and massive in its amounts, and as perishable as an electronic photo, Hollywood celebrities help personalize that content. They put a human face on it. Alas, they are diminished in the process. The issue is, so are we.

Information will come at us with incredible speed, in innumerable transforming faces and stories, on Court Television, on CNN in 24-hour play. We’ve far too much information about Hollywood celebrities these days-their love affairs, their private conversations on mobile phones, the colour of their underwear, how many nose jobs they’ve had, how many intestinal polyps our presidents have had taken out. But the surfeit of information strips the famous of the sacred and heroic-therefore our culture and our own lives-as heroes reflect what we feel is best in ourselves.

In both the processes, the individual requires help from an experienced immigration attorney to take a person out of the immigration entangles. Expedited removal process –

In this process, foreign nationals who have misrepresented their eligibility to enter the United States are generally targeted. This also includes immigrants who have furnished false information at the port or border in order to gain entry. Aliens who have gained entry by providing false and forged documents are also removed by this process. In most cases, aliens are deported without hearing. However, in some cases, it involves those seeking asylum, the alien is interviewed by an asylum officer. An individual is barred from entering the United States for a period of 5 to 20 years if removed by the expedited removal process. US Immigration Statistics

The United States allowed more legal immigrants from 1991 to 2000, between ten and eleven million, than in any previous decade. By comparison, the highest previous decade was the 1900s, when 8.8 million people arrived, increasing the total US population by one percent every year. Specifically, nearly 15% of Americans were foreign-born in 1910, while in 1999, only about 10% were foreign-born.

Immigrants accounted for 4.7 percent of the US population in 1970 and it rose to 6.2 percent in 1980, As of 2010, a quarter of the residents of the United States under 18 are immigrants or are children of immigrants. According to a recent study by the Pew Hispanic Center, in 2008, eight percent of all babies born in the US belonged to illegal immigrant parents.

Legal Immigration to the US

250,000 in the 1930s
2.5 million in the 1950s
4.5 million in the 1970s
7.3 million in the 1980s
10 million in the 1990s

Since 2000, legal immigrants to the US number approximately 1,000,000 per year, of whom about 600,000 who already are in the US change their status. Legal immigrants to the US now are at their highest level ever, at just over 37,000,000. Illegal immigration may account to 1,500,000 per year with at least 700,000 illegal immigrants arriving every year. From 1990 to 2000, immigration led to a 57.4% increase in foreign born population.

Immigration Estimates for the Future

The Census Bureau further estimates the US population will grow from 281 million in 2000 to 397 million in 2050 with immigration, but only to 328 million with no immigration. Additionally, a new report from the Pew Research Center projects that by 2050, 47% of the population will consist of non-Hispanic whites, down from the 2005 figure of 67%. In 1960, there were 85% non-Hispanic whites. The report also foresees the Hispanic population rising from 14% in 2005 to 29% by 2050. Whereas the Asian population is expected to more than triple by 2050. Overall, the population of the US is due to rise from 296 million in 2005 to 438 million in 2050, with 82% of the increase because of immigrants.

In 35 of Americas 50 largest cities, non-Hispanic whites were at the last census or are predicted to be in the minority. In California alone, non-Hispanic whites who were 80% of the state’s population in 1970 came down to 42.3% in 2008.

Immigrants mostly settle in seven states, California, New York, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Illinois, that comprises about 44% of the US population on the whole. The combined total population of immigrants in these seven states is 70% of the total foreign-born population as of 2000. If the present birth rate and immigration rate is to remain the same for another 70 to 80 years, the US population would double to a staggering 600 million approximately. The Census Bureau’s estimates predict that there will be one billion Americans in 2100, compared to one million people in 1700 and 5.2 million in 1800.
